우정현

우정현 / 1929-1993

1929년 1월 전라남도 순천에서 출생하였다. 1961년 대한신경외과학회 창립 초대 평의원을 역임하였다. 수도 의과대학 신경외과 재직 중 출강을 인연으로 1964년 3월 전남의대 신경외과학교실을 창립하고 초대 주임교수로 취임하였고, 1966년 전남의대 부속병원 초대 신경외과장으로 취임하였다. 1973년부터 전남의대 부속병원 제14대, 15대 병원장을 역임하였고, 1979년에는 제19대 대한신경외과학회 회장으로 취임하였다. 또한, 1982년 대한신경외과학회 호남지회를 창립하고 초대 회장에 취임하였다. 우리 지역 최초로 뇌동맥류 수술 (1966년), 악성뇌종양 수술 (1968년)을 비롯하여 신경외과 대부분의 분야에서 환자 치료, 수술, 연구의 초석을 만든 분으로 호남 지역 신경외과의 태두(泰斗)라 할 수 있다. 1993년 2월 폐암으로 타계 하였다.
